It's different here for us since we get so much rain, no one does fall strips. Most guys use a KMC stripper with the planter attached. Our springs are usually pretty warm. Lots of sand and clay soils... I am working on putting together a post on the basic system most use around here, I'll get it posted eventually. Lol
