West, I feel the same way. I have a 2600hr 1688 and will probably run it a few years, but I do like several things about STS's. One their capacity in green stemmed beans is impressive, two the straw chopper is located where it's supposed to be and doesn't leave piles of trash that fall off the axles, three the quick header attach would be great, four I've always thought the JD flex headers do the best. The rebuild part does concern me. Buy the time I can afford one it's usually in need of a rebuild. I am pleased with my Axial-flow for the most part. I am not color blind either. I have found out what STS stands for " STOLE THE SYSTEM", but if they improve it that's OK, that's what Deere has done in the past and there still #1 in sales. Craig
