OK. I always wondered who moved the stake at the other end of the field for your return trip ?
You didn't need the stake moved at the other end. AFTER you turned the end, and lined up to go back, you would get off the tractor, move the wire, and stake it in the MIDDLE of the planter NEAR the fence line. You would then place the wire in the side of the planter, tighten the wire, and drive to the other end, then repeat the process. Remember, most of these were 4 row planters, so the wire was only 80" off when you were leaving the end or approaching the other end. Hope this makes sense. |
