Around here the chisel plows have spear point shovels or spikes, or 3" twist shovels. Out west they are sweeps which we have only used twice in the last 30 years. Down south of Aberdeen, SD an JD 8450 can yank around a 38' Chisel plow but they are only going in 3" as they only have 4" of black dirt. Here with spikes we are in 7 to 8" & less if its bone dry, have a 1610 -23' on a JD 8770. Neighbor has a 39' on a JD 9420, after this width slippage here would be to great. This is black dirt-& gumbo in spots.
