Colfax, ND | Thanks to anyone with constructive input in advance...
We are attempting to start sidedressing half of our nitrogen with NH3 on our strip till 20" corn. Previous crop is mostly soybeans, but COC is a possibility, and most likely would be conventionally tilled. Rates will be 50-100 lbs/acre actual N with openers every 40". Getting the tractor and tanks down the row is not a problem as we started using tramlines last year.
My first question is: Have many people used the Yetter Magnums on 20" rows, and if so, how did they work out?
Also, has anyone used the Deere 2510H opener with some sort of different mount on a different toolbar than the factory Deere 30" machine?
If someone has a 2510H or has access to one, what is the width of the row unit?
From what I've heard, the Yetter can bury short corn, and has no unit mounted depth control. The Deere unit bases depth on a gauge wheel or ski, and are priced just slightly higher as opposed to the very expensive Dawn unit.
Last, are the Bourgault MRB's worth considering?
Thanks again for your time,
