Buxton ND
That was an awesome tour.
They are in the expansion phase to ship more beans faster to counter act our shortened shipping season as Brazil production increases. Another barge UN-loader along with a another BIG ship loader. The big big SuperMax ships which hold 3.8 mb of beans. They had loaded one of these 3.8 mb ship, they could not get it full they simply ran out of beans.

Depends on the year NOLA ships 50-60% of all grain exports with the PNW having 40-50%

Ships could only be loaded to a draft of 42 feet because mouth of the Mississippi has become silted in. The Corp does have 5 dredges but they were on the east coast repairing beach's. I guess beaches and tourists are more important then shipping. This port could load to a draft of 70 feet IDK but thinking that's alot bean/corn not going in a ship to all 42 feet.

*The managers closing comment was abut OUR LOCK System*********************************
*Different lock troubles caused the shut down for a total of 5 weeks since last fall**************
*Five 5 weeks of slowing OUR exports.*****************************************************
*He asked for YOUR help in contacting Washington DC for improving up-grades on the Mississippi*
***************************************************************************************

The different commodity associations spend alot of money promoting OUR exports of YOUR products.
Sure think they could be of help here in DC pushing for maintenance on the Mississippi.
