King City, Mo | I grew some bloody butcher. It is a red open pollinated corn that some called Indian corn. To me Indian corn is multiple colored.
The bloody butcher was untreated seed. Got way tall and some of it broke over with huge ears on it. Planting on 30" rows, 30k, no bug sprays.
I backed the ranger into the plot and tossed ears in the back and then reloaded. Took me a few times as I did it at the end of the day after doing whatever. I wouldn't be planting much corn if I had to pick it all.
You can pick it early if you can keep it from molding. If you have an event early id pick estimated sales before hand and lay the ears out in the sun to dry a while.
We kept ours in totes and only pulled a few shucks back when we were selling them. Some may want to display them a certain way and they aren't "pintrestiful" with the shucks gone...
