Can go 20-30 miles in three directions and get better ground. We made the mistake of settling here TWICE. The first time they at least had the sense to farm near the river...not sure why they sold out and came back to farm worse ground.
Too much history here for me to leave for better ground.
Got a newspaper article telling of one ancestor making the sixty mile ride to Fort Riley to procure weapons on account of expected indian attacks. Great^x grandpa was first postmaster here. Another article talking about one of the Bosses being a great buffalo hunter, and on and on. | |
