Pioneer for instance, does plot work with their local dealers. The data is on pioneers website if you want to look. They feel that by doing this they get data in a wider spread versus a plot done by a college in Manhattan is. A field in Manhattan is is a poor representation of the rest of Kansas. It costs a lot of money to enter varieties into college plots. Since they have their own network of plots I guess they feel money is better spent elsewhere. Great question though. It is one I asked a couple years ago. This is just the answer they gave me. I think they should be put in the college trials
