I guess it depends how you manage your labor, but, IMO, fertigating K isn't worth it above 10 CEC. Now, if your sandy soils are actually below 8 CEC or so, that's a different story. But for anything above 10 CEC you can topdress dry KCl between V1 and V6 and keep the corn well supplied with K. In my experience, 50 lbs KCl is sufficient if your pH is below 7 and 100 lbs will do it if the pH is about 8. (I don't know that 50 lbs won't do it on the higher pH, I just went with the higher rate there). If you're worried about having enough, go with 100 lbs on everything. Potash isn't as expensive this year.

For me, that's easier than messing with fertigation. If you don't have time during the topdress window to do that, and you do have time to fertigate, then sure, do it that way. But corn begins rapid uptake by V8 and is done by tassel. How many times are you irrigating in that window? For the topdress is easier, and tissue tests say that it works.
