My corn averaged 168 bu/ac last year. A neighbor's averaged 200bu/ac. I planted a 25500 seeds/ ac and he planted 30000 seeds/ac. I'm wondering if the difference in the averages came from the different populations.


Wow. I'm surprised you guys share that much detail as neighbors!

As to your question assuming the numbers are truly accurate.

maybe. Too many variable to comment. Weather. Fertility. Hybrids. Planting date. Crop protection products. All these can skew things

I have seen 34K with 250 units of N not make 80 bu/ac in a wet bottom and have seen 24K with 120 units of N make 220 bu/ac and push 300 on the monitor on good hills in a perfect year
