I see the 'conventional' methods as a far more noble venture for society compared to serving a few wealthy enough to choose something based solely on image. That said, it's a market and give them what they want until they figure it out.
You don't mention organic by name, but it is the only label in the marketplace that has a legal definition and is highly criticized. You are incorrect if you think only wealthy people buy organic as a status symbol.
I have no doubt that some organic consumers aren't wealthy. I don't think that is something to be proud of. Fleecing gullible people who can afford it is bad enough, but fleecing those who can't is really low.
Sorry, but it not fleecing. People buy on perceived value all the time. It is called capitalism.
