i agree! marketing is about as close to lying as it gets... its everywhere and in every sector of this economy.
ford, chevy, dodge... all say they are the best and beating the competition... and then you have the Lincoln, Denali, and whatever dodges fancy brand is competing on another level.... a level not necessarily based on reliability but on how "rich, comfy, and stylish" they make you "feel"
well its just that... feelings.. but people still buy them and the companies make much better margins off these "luxury" cars and trucks...
think about the computers... acer, dell, HP, toshiba... all competing for the best... each has their marketing phrase...
then you have the apple computers who are in a different category based on "being different" and they are making a killing in profits... sure it took a lot of advertising to get there...
its all over... yeah i don't like how some go about their advertising... but options provide avenues of revenue and none are necessarily "bad"
