Death comes to us all. Life's but a walking shadow
I just finished analyzing the latest Commitment of Traders data for Corn (futs only) and there are some tantatilizing clues that suggest that the traders are getting just a little nervous about the future corn supply. Commercial longs, both old and new crop are up while commercial short new crop have declined by some 6300 contracts (as of 1/19). You can speculate that South American producers (or somebody) may have liquidated some of their new crop shorts suggesting their not sure they can fill those corn contracts. Meanwhile the fact that old crop Commercial shorts are essentially flat says that as of 1/19 US producers didn't sell, at least not very much.
