Ontario's middle east | In fairness to Doug, the article does not quote him as saying the grain is "unwanted" nor does he say how long the grain will be around. I don't know Doug but I know other merchandisers in that part of the world who do have a plan and they will get grain moved. Like it or not the fact remains we have a Mexican standoff where the funds have gotten very short over the last couple months without completely destroying the price and they are facing off against the naturally long farmer who eventually has to sell a lot of bushels. Doug is right that the farmer has done an amazing job of squirrelling away this crop but the question is now do we see a spark to make the funds buy those shorts back quick driving up the price in the process or does the farmer capitulate and let the funds off the hook? It likely all comes down to timing. | |
