Makes me wonder how much good we're getting out of the corn checkoff.

I burn ethanol in everything except small engines and boat motor.
But nobody likes to be told they HAVE to buy this or that. Including us farmers.
Free market should decide, not mandates. If a product is truly better, it WILL sell, but the consumer must be made aware of the benefits/drawbacks and convinced that buying the product is in their interest.

Here in central Iowa. you aren't forced to buy ethanol, you can spend forty cents more for straight 87 octane.


Same here in northern Iowa. My gas barrel is full of 91 octane straight no-lead. Minnesota is ethanol mandated. Try buying non-ethanol boat gas at a gas station up there. Gotta look far and hard. I'm just saying that it doesn't need to be mandated. Ethanol has been around long enough to stand on it's own, and I firmly believe it will. If big oil is so much against it, why do they own ethanol plants? They use it to blend with junk gas to bring up the octane rating.
