Buxton ND | Southern, Uncle has bought different type's a dry bean under the PL480 "food for peace" program for years. We've had our battle between class's of dry bean and regions with the normal political BS included. Years back the push by one region to source the cheapest protein options, at the time was navies. This back fired,,,, when competing with dry peas in the following years which were cheaper. We have big PL480 shipment years with high price and poor years with low prices or anything in between. If whatever counties need beans they buy them using PL480
Over the year these shipment tend to be of poorly quality product what ever the class of beans or pea's. Its really always been a place to get rid of poorer off grade beans that will not go in a can or package. | |
