If you are someone that wants businesses to stand on their own two feet, efficiency to matter, and the laws of supply and demand to mean something then I can understand your opposition to Cruz.

I've ranted on here before about our "special treatment" in general in ag. It doesn't stop at ethanol. Our ancestors fought hard for the "special treatment" that we receive today... because let's face it, things were not so good back then.

And if you dig hard enough you can find several other industries that have received special treatment from the government going all the way back to colonial times.

The bottom line is this: does the RFS help or hurt the american people in general? Would fuel costs actually go down now and in the long term future if the RFS disappeared? If it would actually reduce the price of fuel, would it go down enough to replace the economic benefits of the ethanol industry?

Saying that no industry never ever ever should get government support is a rather simplistic way of looking at things and that in fact has never been the way this country has ever been run.
