It really makes me wonder why ethanol gets such a bad rep. Nobody attacks the subsidies for wind turbines, solar, electric cars (TESLA) and the like. Not to mention the extra tax being put on coal... and the extra effort put into reducing emissions everywhere including the diesel engines we use on our farms. Nobody complains about that in these debates... but it's big bad ethanol that gets the heat.

And there are no subsidies per se, just the RFS. It took a lot to get ethanol to where it is today and that's pretty remarkable. 20 years ago if you told lawmakers ethanol could exist on its own with just an RFS most would have said it was a pipe dream.

And ethanol is much more clean burning than oil made gasoline. That is scientifically proven. Brazil has been running on ethanol made from cane for decades now.
