Salvisa, KY | I have a neighbor and good friend who does shares on almost all of his farms. He does 25% on corn and 30% on soybeans. He pays all expenses and hauls straight to elevator and takes the drying dock. No forward contracting just cash bids. Elevator cuts the check straight to LL. He's done it this way for 20-30 years. He has kept almost all of them happy. He only stores and markets crops on cash rented and owned farms. He prefers all rents be this way. Maybe just a here thing but works for him. I currently have none like this but may try in the future. I don't know how he divides insurance by doing it this way. Most are retired farmers that think highly of him. Anyone else do this? | |
