| Tara, I agree with your overall philosophy. That being said, I'm not sure you're right on this one. I haven't looked all this stuff up on my own, I'm only using what you laid out in your post.
What if a guy did not let go of his 2004 beans until the 2005 beans were almost ready to be harvested? You were talking about contract highs and I wonder if you were referring to Nov 2004 beans contract for the 2004 beans. But what if they were sold fairly late in 2005?
Would it still look better to have sold ahead on average?
My guess is that since prices were on average going up from 2004 to 2014, it would be better to sell your crop in the next marketing year on average.
From 2012 and on though, it will have been better to sell several years ahead. | |
