Subject: RE: Steer manure before beans

Last year was the first year in probably 5 years we tried beans on a couple of high fertility pieces. Every acre was covered with 3-4 ton of pen pack manure and then got 200 lbs of 9-23-30 with some zinc in a 2x2 with the planter. Beans were a 1.4 treated with CruiserMaxx. No fungicide, no aphid spraying, one pass of round-up (not recommended but the co-op didn't get out there very timely and you could barely see the rows the weeds were so tall, and the beans were 5 inches tall.) The field averages were right around the 67 BPA mark. Could it have been better, probably, but it's what I had to deal with. I like manure with both corn and beans because it provides micros, that works HERE.
