NW Iowa | Dad was restless and confused last night. He only has the use of one hand as a result of a farm accident many years ago. I learned last night if I could hold his hand it calmed him and kept him from pulling his covers off and pushing himself around. However, I was having a hard time getting him to keep holding. Finally it was all getting to me and I started sobbing. Dad looked over at me and I blubbered out "Dad I need you to hold my hand". He then reached out and klutched my hand for a long long time, till he finally gave up and drifted off to sleep. He slept for several hours and the rest of the night was peaceful. Aren't our dads so like that? Happiest and most at peace when they can serve! Not big on being served! Ha! | |
