Subject: RE: Continuous soybeans?

Yale, Michigan
We farm several small fields like this that are continuous soybeans. We tried to get cute in 2013 and planted corn on our wettest ground during Memorial Day weekend (I think we all had the taste of $7 corn the fall before) and got burned. It got really wet and cold after that so lets just say we won't make that mistake again. We have fields that are simply too wet to plant corn and wheat would be laughable in my opinion on them. There are fields in our county that have been continuous soybeans for over 20 years, most simply due to wet fields. We actually had a small muck field that went 70+ bpa this year so it will probably be soybeans forever now! Made all the drowned out 2013 corn and yearly ruts in that field worth it!

Keep your potash levels up, treat the seed, rotate varieties, and you'll be fine - especially with free rent! This guy would be my favorite landlord for sure!
