Dublin, VA | I like to spray, spread manure, then plant, but have never tried spraying last either. I like the consistent kill on rye, preserving some soil moisture by terminating early, and having more moderate ground cover to mitigate slugs of killing the rye first. I would think it would somewhat depend on if your set up to plant thru heavy residue if you let it grow longer as well (good row cleaners and more aggressive closing come to mind).
