NW Central Ohio | Orrville will still have the popcorn with the highest volume per kernal count. They specifically breed their varieties to that type of quality, and their seed is proprietary. That means you don't buy it from anyone, they basically own it until it makes it back to their plant. You can't even sell the product of their seed to anyone else or you will more than likely get a summons to a court about violating your contract. Act II is packaged by the same people that pack Orville's (ConAgra) and some of the Act II varieties will meet Orville's standards. ConAgra also packs Jiffy Pop.
..Popcorn will expand best at about 13.8-14.2 moisture content. I've found that a circular motion popper gives me the highest expansion. I can't get it to pop anywhere near the volume when using a regular pan on the stove. It also seems to be quite a bit tougher to eat. | |
