Subject: Loader bucket cutting edge ? Welding?

Callao Missouri
Loader bucket cutting edge failed, I straightened it, ground out the break, welded with stainless rod, and beat out the dent in the pan of the loader bucket. I let the pressure off the cutting edge, and my stainless weld broke, but the bucket did not return to its torqued position. I am a good welder, so I am not questioning my welding ability, but is there something else I should use to weld the cutting edge with other than stainless? We will replace the bucket, but I need to fix this one till the new bucket gets here.

One other thing, this stainless rod has been around since the Ragen presidency, and it has not been in a rod oven, flux looks good but who knows. Ma bee some new stainless rod will do the trick, what about nickel rod? Thanks Jon
