Subject: RE: Teach me about liberty beans

NE Iowa
My first year with Liberty beans and very happy. Much cleaner then my RR beans. I got my seed from Epley Hybrids in Shell Rock, IA. I'm sure that they get the varieties from Stine. I planted a 2.3. They have a 2.1 and 2.6 also. I think they were $45 per bag list price and 12% off if paid before October 1st. I used this as my pre:

3 Pt of Generic Extreme (Pursuit + Roundup) - $18/gallon = $6.75 / acre
1.5 Pt. Generic Dual - $30/gallon = $5.65 / acre
4 oz. Generic Sencor - $11 / # = $2.75 / acre

$15.15 / acre and I spray it off the back of the drill as both burndown and pre in a no-till situation. I planted the last week of April and made my single post spray of Liberty about June 15th-20th. I used about 29 oz. of Liberty and it cost about $65 per gallon. I used 3#/acre of dry AMS and about 18 gallon/ acre of water. Liberty is a much quicker kill then Roundup. Weeds are brown in a couple days. I had Liberty corn also this year and will be using more next year.
