north-central Indiana west of Fulton | Since no one has given an opinion yet....I will say what our experience has been, without claiming any guarantees ! If my probe tester is correct (and I have some doubts) I think you can keep hay in the upper limits of the chart on the label. In this case , 25 to 30%. Don't under apply.... more is better to be safe. The big question is moisture you go by. Some probes may be slightly under 20 and some are 30 plus! I get a better feel for the hay on the sm sq baler which I run ,then I will tell my son who runs the big round. If put a rate for 25 or slightly higher moisture, I figure about 1 gallon/ton or 9 plus lbs. Easier to watch my tank figuring gallons. Price can vary some but it is hard to get buffered acid for under $1 and can go to $1.30. So it is easy to get $10 a ton in acid . Might add my tester almost always says my hay is wetter that I think!
