N.W. Ohio | Other areas of the country have had higher amounts of rainfall than NW Ohio. But I think the big differance "HERE" is that this is a lake bed soil and after the amount of rain we had gotten in May that the clay soils just pretty much sealed up and the water that could perculate thru the soils to the tile slowed WAY down. Then June/July rainfall was astronomical also. Is not hard to find Strip till and No till fields that only have 1 or 2 good rows of corn over them and the rest is so stunted that it is tasseling out at 2 feet tall and will make nothing. The fields that had been plowed/chisel plowed have fared significantly better. Will be some very good corn in the area and some that make almost nothing. Same thing with the soybeans. Much of the wheat had little value after the Vom, Damage, Test weight discounts were deducted. Most are ready to move on to 2016. | |
