I read on here last year that if you plant winter triticale as long as you dont let it head out you can harvest the hay this fall then let it winter over and grow like normal next year -
Why not just plant the wheat early - hay it this fall before it heads out - and then let it overwinter, vernalize and produce a seed crop next year.....
same seed u would normally plant - just earlier - and get some hay off
