western iowa,by Denison | My neighbor Runningihred commented last nite they typically spray 400 acres a day with a mounted 3pt sprayer-it is a 60ft boom on a magnum with a 500 gallon tank
That comes out to 6.66 acres per foot-he said they run 7mph
I know they don't start early and quit about same time I do-Yesterday I ran 180 acres with a 30ft boom at 7mph-had to run for water and fill on yard-my longest home run was 2 miles-I was running 20 gallon to the acre-and my tank holds 300 gallon-so I get 15 acres to the load-we are spraying round-up-He said to go to 12 gallon acre and they haul water to the field-I have no help-so its easier to run home-
Is that typical to run over 6 acres a foot-at 6.66 I should have been able to run 199.8 acres-I was happy with 180
What would you change to be more efficient-faster loading-less water, haul water to the field?
I thought I had a great day,but Runningihred implyied I could do a lot better.
I guess that 1/2 hour I wasted trying to kill a wood chuck didn't help either-I almost had him with the front tire and bent my narrow rim on the tractor I spray with chasing him
