You said a mouth full there. Did the same in 2013. Planted about 2/3rds of the crop, and pp'd the rest. Agonized for days over the decision. To the original poster, you have to put your blinders on and not worry about what your neighbors or whoever thinks and do what is best for your operation. There's always going to be some guy that is gonna try and make you feel like a loser for taking pp, two weeks ago, this board was full of that, but is kind of subsiding now.

As far as price goes, if your worried about a rally, buy some out of the money calls. The thing about disasters, if your in one you automatically think its bad everywhere and prices should go up (a lot), which is not always the case. Funny thing about one of the guys that was knockin me for taking pp, was the same guy crying about holding his grain into the summer of '14 and taking it in the shorts.
