Don't know where you are, but up here seed is hard to come by due to lousy growing conditions in the western growing areas last year. Again don't know where you are but I'm not aware of any open contracts "here". Coop has a marketing pool but no bids. Cost are going to be similar to non GMO soybeans since you'd use the same chemistry. Seed, if you can find it is @ $60/bag. Depending on row spacing populations run from 90K to 140K and seed size in the low 2,000/lb. If you don't have a good flex head with an air reel/air bar and access to a field roller you might want to re think this option. Again, don't know where you are but if you don't live someplace with relatively cool nights and warm days (like within 20 miles of one of the Great Lakes shores) you might want to reconsider.

Long and short answer, at this stage of the game if you're determined to grow them and have never grown them before you're going to want to invest in either a case of Pepto-Bismol or Maalox to soothe the ulcer you're liable to develop!

I've already started stomach medication this year because of the corn and soy crops the rain has destroyed.
