U of IL recommendations are much lower than that 1.2 now. There is really no need for more than 1.0 unless you are losing a lot of fall applied N. Splitting application should be able to get down in the 0.8 range. Wasted dollars.
This is why we switched from preplant to sidedress here. Even though we are high in clay we have poor CEC here. Fall apps are worthless it's always so flooded in the spring.
Answer me this. Nitrate test from tile water.
