Callao, Missouri | The safest bet 'here' is to not bale the hay. Plant it untouched and use about 15% more seed and innoculate properly at the planter using 2x the recommended rate. After planting, I use 60oz of Roundup with AMS, and plan to spray again in about two weeks with RU and residual.
Baling hay always resulted in being two weeks too late for me. The grass pulled too much moisture out.
I have used a kinze 3650, jd 750, and cih 950. I thought the cih 950 did the best job, followed by the 750.
The type of grass can make a huge difference. Brome is hard to spray out, and if I disk fescue it becomes almost impervious to RU later on. If its a warm season grass early spraying may not work because it won't be actively growing yet.
