Near-north Ontario, French River | From what I've read about rail guns the projectile is purely a kinetic weapon, if its misses its target by even an inch it will do no damage. Mach 7 is , for back on a knapkin calculations, 5330mph which I think we all agree is pretty darn fast but even at those speeds it takes 13.5 seconds to reach a target that's 20 miles away. A small quick moving can maneuver a long ways in those 13.5 seconds, a large target like a ship not so much . Now the ability to hit a fixed target in that time frame is very intriguing. :-) |
