south central MN | As someone who has been involved in sprint car racing for over 30 years and have been reading posts on this incident today I thought some of you might like to hear from someone that has a little understanding of sprint cars.
The right rear tires is generally 12-13 inches bigger around and 3 inches wider then the left rear connected by a solid axle ( no differential ). Off the power the right rear is like an anchor trying to drag the car right and on the gas the car wants to go to the left since the right rear is bigger. So if Tony gassed the car before hitting the other driver the acceleration would drive the car to the left away from the other driver.
As I watched the video of the crash leading up to the other driver getting out of his car I would bet that Tony never even knew he made contact with the other car since it was to his right and slightly behind him which is a blind spot because of the type of containment seats that sprint car drivers use.
As far as a confrontation between the two drivers that the news reports it to me was more of one man confrontation by the young man that unfortunately lost his life.
I have included 2 picture that I just took to illustrate what Tony view would have been compared to what we see in a video.
