Just in case one or two are interested in this sort of stuff, here's a small update on the 6x6 I am putting tracks on. I took it for a test drive this afternoon and had enough road out back to get it up to 35mph. Ran smooth as silk. Muddy, but smooth. The front steers fine and takes the bumps with little to no steering wheel jerk. (commonly known as bump steer) It's raining so much I could not take video and it was a bear to get any pics to even show up. I had to sift thru them to get any that were even worth it when outside, and I had to go back and take some of the fronts while in the shop. d;-( Still had a tough time with pics today for some reason. So far, I am really happy with the way it behaves on its first run empty. The front is a little heavy for the size of foot print, but when I went along the edge of a conventional tilled wheat field, for a few feet, the front sank about 4 inches then no more. The rear did'nt even leave a mark until I turned. Which, why would it when empty, but I had to see it. So here are some of the pics that I could get to even show a little bit.
The front belt around the tires. I did not take the time to take any pics when I got home with them, I just put them on as soon I got home, I was so excited. They went on just perfectly. Easy for one fat old man. Try again with flash.
So far, so good. It all held together even though I have no cross bracing in the frame extension. I have to put the spray tank and hitch on so I know where to put the bracing. I stood on it in 2wd, and can just hear the tires slip in the belts for a foot or so. I panic stopped the brakes and same thing. It'll put you thru the window stopping as the front belts are nice and tight around the full circ of the tires. And a little offset never hurts when going after flotation.
