Subject: RE: Case tractors with the white paint (1370 D)

Alberta, Canada
I've seen the same around here too. The old 1070's are still quite popular as a baler tractor. I have a 970 and a 2090 both since new. The 970 has givin the least amount of troubles over the years and its 32 years old now. I pulled the power shift out about 10 years ago I think. A clutch disc on the front C1 clutch wore its splines out or something. Anyway you could get at it fine when the tractor was split. Everyone told me I should pull the whole PS out. The clutch friction discs etc. and other parts were good still and still are today. AS for powershifts I'm told they are the easiest to work on.

As others have mentioned I would be concerned buying one them higher HP tractors unless I new the history of what it was used for and how it was driven. The smaller 95hp-110 Case tractors seem to stand up and run forever. Maybe its because they do more pto type work instead of pulling.
