Northwest Illinois
The CIH has a 3/4" wide No-till shank with more of a No-till sweep style point. They are very low disturbance but you have to pay attention to the sides of the shanks. They will wear into an hourglass shape if you don't keep them hard-faced. The Unferferth 132 is a 3/4" shank also but uses an 1 1/4" wear shin and 1/4" thick replaceable shank protector plates on both sides of the shanks. The points are straight 2" cast iron and kind of wrap around the shank. They have bolt-on replaceable 'shatter wings' that bolt onto the shanks. The UM shank will disturb a little more with the wider wear shin but the shanks last forever. The older (2012 and prior) UM 130 subsoilers had more of a blunt wear shin and forged points so they were a little bit worse in the disturbance department. They are both good units. Just kind of depends on what you want to do with it.
