I had to take out four pine trees when I added a shop to an existing shed in 2000. IIRC,they were about 12-15" in diameter. I pushed them out with a 4020 & loader. Wasn't really that much soil disturbance. I hauled in some good black dirt to fill the holes and packed that down with the 4020. I then hauled in fill and raised the area where the shop was to be built about 2' to match the existing building. We'd haul in a couple loads of fill, level it & pack then repeat the process. 13 yrs later I have seen no signs of settling.
