I have 2 horse stables in an unheated barn and used PEX tubes for the drinking troughs. The lines have frozen and thawed many times since without damage. Not sure if PVC does this as well. Copper and steel donĀ“t.
Just in case the heat fails in the shop or you decide to shut it off periodically. Completely draining even a basic water system can be hard.
