+1. Nothing harder on any living thing than a relentless cold and wind driven rain.

In SD it's sometimes a joke when we talk about our "dry heat" in summer, but it's true. Our winters here can have very low temps, but most often it's a "dry cold" A cow can stand -30 cold pretty darn well with a good hair coat and a belly full of hay to fuel her furnace (rumen)

+30 degree rain/sleet driven by 60 mph winds is a whole nother story. Nothing can take that, especially for an extended period with no letup for days. Those cattle are the equivalent of a man being out there wearing only a T-shirt and underwear. Cattle get chilled and disoriented fast.
