I agree on using the laminated posts. Paul, I had the same question as you when I put my shed up in 1979. A good friend of the family was a general contractor so I asked him & he recomeneded going with the laminated posts. I figured if they were good enough for a man that built million dollar buildings they were good enough for me.

That was in 1979, now it's 2006 and most of the posts have a lot of rot from just below ground level down even though the bottom part of the posts were made of treated lumber. I already have the permacoulmns purchased & waiting for the contractor to install . Next building I build will have the permacolumn bottoms & laminated posts above ground.
