It's generally not recommended here in the humid east. The fusarium from the first crop hangs around for the second crop and if you get a humid, wet year the fusarium head blight can severely limit your yield. Even worse if you had corn before the wheat. I have seen it done successfully though. Just depends on the weather.

Will crop insurance cover you against head blight if you don't follow good practices?
