Subject: Re: Side dressing 28

NE SD
Our program this year was 70lbs actual N put down in the fall with P, K and S as strip-till, double-shot with a Horsch Drill, or some spread and chiseled in depending on the land. We put 35lbs down with the sprayer(12 gpa worked better with the tips we have than 10). We will sidedress the remaining 35-60lbs as 28% starting around v6. I believe in spoon feeding corn. I aim for a yield goal that I think is realistic for our area. Last year my conversion was .6lbs of N per bushel with a similar program. I don't feel that I can split apply and get it all done. We went to a 60' machine so we could follow our planter tracks and figure if we get behind, we can pull things together and cover a lot of ground fast. If you kept fertilizer to it and had a 3" pump you could do a lot of acres in a day.
