Subject: update tuesday

SW Ohio
I borrowed another tower with SATA plugs, but only two, one for CD/DVD and one for HD, hooked my old drive into CD wires and system utility finds it but it is not "accessable". Tried to boot from it and cannot even get to the safe mode option. It vibrates and hums like it is spinning but nothing else, put it in the freezer for an hour and tried again, nothing...........
Gotta get some work done so will mess with it later when the storms get here.........

add, I think the borrowed tower is short on power supply, it will freeze up the mouse if I leave the bad drive hooked up too long, and fan seems to run slower. Sys info knows the model # of bad drive so it must be reading something. Next step is take good drive out of loaner and put in my old tower to see if the MB and memory and such is still good in old tower.........

Just thinking.... is there a utility I can use to check or diagnose the bad drive from the loaner tower??

Later.......
