You are correct that change is not always improvement.
I would also note that we always have to have some change or we get left behind.
Perhaps the best answer about change is we need to accept some change all the time but know enough to go back to the old if the change does not work out.
Some changes will work better than the old.
I also expect a 'like' or 'dislike' button would not work well when a controversial idea is put forward even if that idea or opinion is correct.
Those who are stuck in the past or refuse to study a new idea opinion and just retain their old opinions would reflexively click the dislike button without even considering the points behind the different opinion.
