| Get a DSL modem that's also a wireless router, it has a cable connector for the main computer.
You don't need to configure the wireless, so it's as easy to set up as "Plug-and-Play."
The only thing to do is to change the default password of the DSL modem, so it can't be hacked. Probably need to log into the modem's settings using the password mentioned in the router's documentation, change the password and save it somewhere safe but accessible and easy to remember, like with the user manual of the router. These passwords are the same and every hacker has lists of them for every make and model of router.
The first family member who visits can then set up the wireless connection properly, since they'll be the ones using it.
Routers have their own firewall, which is usually more secure than the one on the computer, such as Windows Firewall or Windows Defender, it can be set up at the same time as the wireless. A job for a grand-kid... ;) | |
